On October 8, 2020 trading, 15 Million SM Investments (SM) shares were crossed through BDO Securities at the stock exchange at 860.5 valuing the transaction at 12.9 Billion Pesos.  The transaction saw SM swinging from a low of 850 to a high of 888 on that trading day.

The transaction could be attributed to Henry “Big Boy” Sy. Jr. It can be recalled that on September 18, 2020, Big Boy transferred 25,342,447 SM shares from his direct holdings to his brokerage account.

Before that, Big Boy already transferred 35,367,989 shares to his brokerage account.  Of that number of shares 30,000,000 were transferred to his holding company and the rest were dumped into the market raising around 5.7 Billion Pesos.

While Big Boy has been liquidating a portion of his SM fortune, no acquisition by him has been announced yet.  No one would also believe that Big Boy will just be sitting with his cash while riding the pandemic out.

Any operating company with cellar dweller share price could be a target.  But based on his previous pre-occupations, he has interest in utilities, cement and education.
